From my experience at Georgia-Pacific along with many of my colleagues and family that work for the company, I can say that they have little to no appreciation for the people in operations, which are the backbone of the company.

The hours are brutal and the workplace conditions cause wear and tear on the body. Although they do try to alleviate work stress with ergonomic training, it isn't enough.

The opportunity for career advancement is basically non-existent. I personally would not recommend working for this company. Work in the maintenance department.

Have been treated fairly and I have respect for and from my peers. We are all working together in the end. Safety is a major focus here. Show up on time and don't screw around you will be fine. If an issue arises among personnel, remain calm and handle it at your level, and escalate the issue in the most constructive manner, you will have no problems here.INTEGRITY, is huge.

You screw up, say something. Being a liar is a surefire way to lose your job. HUMILITY, is huge. Nobody, knows everything, don't pretend to know if you don't know.Altogether this has been the best work experience of my entire life. I will miss this place. Compensation is good and offers opportunities for advancement, though many times there are pay increases and small title changes, more than true work-changing promotions.Management gets very involved in decisions that they have no idea the repercussions of, which leads to frustrating software development process.There are some technical leaders in the company, but most are simply doing enough to get by and are not very passionate about strong software.This is clearly a manufacturing company that has custom software, not like a company that focuses on tech.
